The Coach

About

I've been coaching for over fifteen years, working with people who want to move better, feel stronger, and build a training practice that actually lasts.

I served in the Royal Marines before that — which gave me a particular perspective on what physical training is for. Not performance for its own sake. Not numbers on a board. The ability to do the things that matter to you, for a long time, without breaking down.

That's still how I think about coaching. I get a lot from my own physicality, and I find real satisfaction in watching other people discover theirs.

I coach 1-2-1 from Basis Gym in London Fields, Hackney — a focused training environment with everything we need and nothing we don't.

The Work

Coaching

01

Movement First

Every session starts with how you move. Before we load anything, we work on the foundations — the movement patterns that underpin everything else.

02

Progressive by Design

From there we build complexity gradually, layering strength onto good mechanics. Bodyweight, barbells, kettlebells — learning to use them well takes time and attention. That's the work.

03

Built Around You

Sessions are 1-2-1, programmed specifically for you, and built around your life rather than a fixed template. Training should complement what you already do, not compete with it.

The Fit

Who It's For

Strength training is for everyone. That's not a marketing line — it's something I genuinely believe, and something I see demonstrated regularly in the gym.

Where you're starting from matters less than you might think. What matters is that you've decided this is a direction worth going in, and that you want to do it well. Some people come having trained for years. Others are starting from scratch. The work looks different, but the approach is the same: move well, build strength on that foundation, and find a practice you can sustain — and enjoy.

The people who tend to get the most from this are the ones who are curious, willing to engage with the process, and in it for the long term rather than a quick result. If that's you, we'll probably work well together.

Get In Touch

Getting started is straightforward. We begin with a call to talk through where you are and what you want from your training. From there we book a three-session trial block, giving us time to assess where you are, start building your programme, and for you to decide if I am the right coach for you.
